The Chadian military has reported a significant operation in the Lake Chad region, resulting in the elimination of at least 70 Boko Haram terrorists and the destruction of five major terrorist camps.
According to security analyst and counterinsurgency expert Zagazola Makama, the General Staff of the Armed Forces in Lake Chad stated that a commando unit of the Rapid Intervention Force (FIR) executed a series of coordinated air, land, and nautical maneuvers in the localities of Litri, Kaiga-Ngouboua, and Kaiga-Kindjiria. These operations successfully neutralized the terrorists.
The General Staff further explained that the operation, supported by the defense and security forces, led to the dismantling of five terrorist camps, including Boko Haram’s main base in the area. The offensive expelled the terrorists and their resources from Chadian territory, significantly reducing major terrorist threats in the region.
This operation followed “Operation Lake Sanity 2,” led by the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) on Cameroonian and Nigerian soil, which forced Boko Haram militants into Chadian territory. The swift and decisive actions of the Chadian military dealt a major blow to the terrorist group’s capabilities.
The General Staff praised the effectiveness of the Rapid Intervention Force (FIR) in bolstering the efforts of the defense and security forces in the ongoing fight against terrorism.
