At least six people have died and 60 others sustained injuries in a tragic road accident in Lokoja, Kogi State, yesterday.

Road Accident
The crash occurred around 3:00 p.m. on Hassan Katsina Road, when the driver of a truck carrying both cows and passengers lost control while speeding around a bend, causing the vehicle to overturn.
Mr. Samuel Oyedeji, the Kogi State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), confirmed the incident, describing it as a single-vehicle accident caused by excessive speed.
According to Oyedeji, the truck, which was traveling from Bauchi towards Enugu State, crashed after the driver failed to navigate the sharp curve safely. The impact caused the cows and over 100 passengers to be thrown from the vehicle.
The FRSC commander noted that despite warnings against transporting both passengers and cattle in the same vehicle, drivers continue to disregard the regulations.
Six passengers lost their lives in the crash, while 60 others were injured. The bodies of the deceased have been taken to the mortuary at the Federal Teaching Hospital, while the injured have been admitted to the specialist hospital in Lokoja.
Oyedeji also issued a stern warning, stating that any driver found transporting both cattle and passengers will face legal action.
