See The Numbers of Women Operation Lake Sanity Rescues as ISWAP Fighters Surrender

Troops from Operation Lake Sanity 2, under Task Force Wulgo, have successfully rescued 34 women and children from Boko Haram captivity. During their clearance operations on June 15, 2024, in the villages of Mazuri, Itsari, Mudu, and Maleri, near southern Lake Chad, the troops also neutralized one terrorist.

In a related event on June 17, 2024, three Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters from the Jabilaram camp, an isolated islet on Lake Chad, surrendered to the Task Force Wulgo troops. The fighters, identified as Babakura Abubakar (20), Abacha Kyari (28), and Mohammad Adam (29), are currently being interrogated for further actions.

Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, Chief Military Public Information Officer of the MNJTF in Ndjamena-Chad, disclosed these developments in a statement to DAILY POST. The statement highlighted an airstrike conducted on June 9, 2024, in Kollaram, which destroyed three suicide vehicle-borne IEDs intended for a major terrorist attack. This mission demonstrated the effectiveness of the air force units from Troops Contributing Countries in eliminating high-value terrorist targets and mitigating threats.

The combined efforts of ground and air operations are significantly weakening the operational strength and morale of terrorist groups in the region. The MNJTF remains steadfast in its mission to eradicate terrorism, ensure civilian safety, and promote a secure and peaceful environment conducive to long-term stability.

Major General Ibrahim Sallau Ali, Force Commander, praised the troops’ bravery and reaffirmed the MNJTF’s commitment to restoring peace and normalcy through continued vigilance and proactive engagements.
