Kogi Government to Demolish Properties Used by Internet Fraudsters
The Kogi State Government has issued a stern warning to demolish houses and hotels occupied by internet fraudsters, commonly known as Yahoo boys. This announcement was made by the State Security Adviser, retired Commander Jerry Omodara, during the “State of Kogi” radio program on Monday, monitored by FIRST CLASS GISTS in Lokoja.
Omodara emphasized the need for public assistance in providing information to help arrest internet fraudsters. He indicated that security agencies will soon target hotels used by these criminals to carry out their activities and stressed that those harboring fraudsters will face severe consequences.
The Security Adviser also cautioned landlords against renting their properties to Yahoo boys, warning that such buildings would be demolished. He mentioned that the government, in collaboration with security agencies, has already identified properties built with proceeds from criminal activities, and those harboring criminals will soon be demolished.
Omodara added that security agencies and local hunters have been instructed to arrest or neutralize anyone found carrying arms in the forests.
Commending the efforts of Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo in addressing insecurity, Omodara called on businesses and wealthy individuals to support the State Security Trust Fund.
FIRST CLASS GISTS reported that the activities of internet fraudsters in Kogi State have been increasing, leading to numerous arrests by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) earlier this year.
