See What President Tinubu’s Orders Soldiers To do While Addressing Them for Murder of Soldiers in Aba by IPOB Militants

See What President Tinubu’s Orders Soldiers To do While Addressing Them for Murder of Soldiers in Aba by IPOB Militants

I am deeply saddened by the tragic news of the killing of five soldiers by suspected militants of the banned terrorist group, IPOB.

The soldiers, who were on a peacekeeping mission in Aba, Abia State, were brutally murdered on Thursday. This comes just two months after a similar atrocity occurred in Okuama, Delta State.

These heinous and savage acts are utterly condemned and cannot be tolerated in our nation.

Our soldiers and police officers bear the critical responsibility of protecting us from aggressors and non-state actors. Many have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty, while others have faced undue hostility from those they strive to protect.

They certainly do not deserve these senseless attacks by lawless individuals within our society. The federal government will take strong action against those who persistently target our armed forces.

No one, under any pretext, has the right to attack state agents.

I want to emphasize that the government and the armed forces of Nigeria are fully capable of defeating violent non-state actors who threaten the safety of our communities.

I urge security agencies to not only apprehend the masterminds and perpetrators of the Aba attack but also those inciting others to stay at home. Their actions are treasonous.

The restraint shown by our security forces should not be mistaken for weakness.

We are committed to building a peaceful and harmonious society, but it must be understood that the government will take decisive action when the lives of our officers are recklessly endangered.

My heartfelt condolences go out to the families of the fallen soldiers, their comrades, and the leadership of our armed forces. I encourage all peacekeeping personnel not to be disheartened by this tragic event in Aba.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu

President and Commander-in-Chief, Federal Republic of Nigeria
