Shaibu Calls on Obaseki to Comply with Court Ruling Reinstating Him as Deputy Governor
Comrade Philip Shaibu has urged outgoing Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki to honor the court ruling that reinstates him as the duly elected Deputy Governor of Edo State.
In a statement released by his media team on Tuesday, Shaibu made this appeal following the Federal High Court in Abuja’s dismissal of the Edo State government’s attempt to stay the execution of the reinstatement order.
Shaibu described the court’s ruling, delivered by Justice James Omotosho, as a strong affirmation of the judiciary’s role in promoting justice, safeguarding citizens’ rights, and supporting democracy. He emphasized the need for Obaseki to comply with this ruling.
“It is essential to prioritize the interests of Edo State over personal agendas and to respect the rule of law. The court has repeatedly ruled that my impeachment was illegal and unconstitutional, violating sections 188 and 35 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended),” Shaibu stated.
