Shaibu Urges Obaseki to Respect Court Ruling and Reinstate Him as Deputy Governor

Comrade Philip Shaibu has called on outgoing Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki to honor the recent court ruling that reinstates him as the legitimate Deputy Governor of Edo State.
In a statement from his media team on Tuesday, Shaibu reacted to the Federal High Court’s decision in Abuja, which dismissed the Edo State government’s request to stay the execution of the court order regarding his reinstatement.
Shaibu characterized the ruling by Justice James Omotosho as a significant endorsement of the judiciary’s role in safeguarding justice, citizens’ rights, and democracy. He emphasized that Obaseki should comply with the court’s decision.
“It is crucial to prioritize the interests of Edo State over personal agendas and adhere to the rule of law. The court has clearly determined that my impeachment was illegal, unconstitutional, and void, infringing on sections 188 and 35 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended),” Shaibu stated.
