Shettima Sounds Alarm: Social Media Anarchists Pose Greatest Threat to Democracy and National Survival
In a stirring address that has caught the attention of both political analysts and the general public, Vice President Kashim Shettima has issued a strong warning about the dangers posed by unchecked activities on social media platforms. According to Shettima, the rise of what he describes as “social media anarchists” is not just a political concern but a fundamental threat to the stability and survival of the nation.
Speaking at a recent national conference on governance and digital integrity, Shettima emphasized that social media, while a powerful tool for connectivity and information sharing, has increasingly become a breeding ground for misinformation, incitement, and divisive rhetoric. He argued that the unchecked spread of false narratives could undermine democratic institutions and erode public trust in governance.
“These so-called social media anarchists are more dangerous than traditional political opponents because their influence is subtle, pervasive, and instantaneous,” Shettima stated. “They exploit the anonymity of digital platforms to spread chaos, manipulate public opinion, and threaten the very fabric of our democracy.”
Shettima’s warning comes amid growing global concern over the role of social media in political destabilization. The vice president urged policymakers, tech companies, and civil society to collaborate in establishing frameworks that ensure responsible online behavior without infringing on freedom of expression. He called for the promotion of digital literacy among citizens to help identify and resist misleading content.
In conclusion, Shettima stressed that the fight against social media anarchy is a collective responsibility. “Democracy is fragile and must be protected not only in the chambers of government but
