Sowore Accuses Government of Using National Youth Confab to Reward Tinubu’s Son and Allies

Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate for the African Action Congress (AAC), has accused the federal government of organizing the proposed national confab as a means to reward Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu, and his associates. Sowore expressed skepticism, claiming that the initiative would not lead to meaningful change.
In an address on October 1, President Bola Tinubu announced plans for a 30-day National Youth Conference aimed at addressing the challenges faced by Nigeria’s youth, who make up over 60% of the population. The conference, Tinubu explained, would offer a platform to discuss the opportunities and difficulties facing young Nigerians.
However, during his appearance on Lunchtime Politics on Wednesday, Sowore argued that the administration’s real agenda was to reward select youths loyal to the government. “The government is only looking to compensate those in their circle,” he claimed. “The youths they’re inviting probably have ties to Seyi Tinubu, not ordinary Nigerians.”
Sowore further expressed doubts about the effectiveness of such a conference. He stated, “If I were invited, I wouldn’t attend because I believe it’s a mere charade with no real outcomes. They want to make these youths feel included, perhaps by livestreaming the event, but in the end, it will lead to nothing.”
The AAC candidate emphasized that young people eager for true change should not rely on a national conference. Instead, he suggested that they unite and work together to achieve their political objectives.
