Terror Returns to Katsina: Six Dead, Two Abducted in Night Raid

According to local sources, the assailants stormed the community late at night, opening fire indiscriminately and causing widespread panic among villagers. The attackers, reportedly arriving on motorcycles, unleashed terror as they moved from house to house, targeting helpless civilians.
Residents described the horrifying scene, recounting how families fled into the bush in a desperate attempt to escape the gunfire. “We heard gunshots around midnight. Everyone ran for their lives,” one eyewitness told reporters under the condition of anonymity.
Security forces were reportedly alerted but arrived after the bandits had already retreated with their captives. The two kidnapped individuals, whose identities have not yet been officially released, are believed to be local residents.
This latest assault underscores the worsening security situation in Katsina, where rural communities have increasingly become targets of deadly attacks and mass abductions. The state, like many others in northwestern Nigeria, has struggled with the growing menace of armed banditry.
Authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the incident, but local vigilante groups have begun combing nearby forests in an effort to locate the abducted victims and pursue the attackers.
Residents are now calling on the federal and state governments to intensify efforts in addressing the region’s security challenges, as communities remain gripped by fear and unce
rtainty.
