The Cheapest States to Live in Nigeria __NBS

According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), Benue, Delta, and Borno states are the most affordable places to live in Nigeria.

The NBS’s Consumer Price Index and Inflation Data for July, released on Thursday, highlighted that these states experienced the slowest increase in headline inflation year-on-year. Specifically, Benue’s headline inflation rate was 27.28 percent, Delta’s was 28.06 percent, and Borno’s was 28.33 percent.

In terms of month-on-month inflation increases, Taraba (0.17 percent), Kwara (0.62 percent), and Ondo (0.91 percent) recorded the lowest rates of inflation.

Conversely, Abuja (3.91 percent), Borno (3.84 percent), and Enugu (3.76 percent) saw the highest rises in inflation rates.

Earlier, FIRST CLASS GISTS reported that Nigeria’s headline inflation rate fell to 33.90 percent in July, marking the first decline since 2022, when it was at 21.34 percent. Additionally, the NBS noted that a decrease in the prices of staple foods like garri and fufu contributed to a reduction in food inflation, which fell to 39.53 percent in July from 40.87 percent in June.
