Those Who Accepted ‘Spaghetti and Clothes’ for Tinubu Votes Are Now Suffering

Umar Damagum, the acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has expressed his satisfaction that Nigerians who accepted food items and clothing in exchange for their votes for President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 elections are now experiencing significant hardships.

Damagum remarked that citizens should not be sympathized with, as they are witnessing the repercussions of trading their votes for trivial items like spaghetti and wrappers.

His comments followed a closed-door meeting with PDP stakeholders and the governor on Friday. He criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), questioning their readiness to govern and suggesting that their administration would yield little benefit.

“Those who took spaghetti and wrappers to support this government are suffering the most, and this should serve as a valuable lesson. We need to pursue leaders who are credible, experienced, and truly ready to govern, rather than those who merely chant slogans like ‘Emilokan,'” he stated.

Damagum also voiced concerns about the ongoing difficulties faced by many Nigerians, attributing them to the policies implemented by Tinubu’s administration.

In related news, Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court in Abuja issued a ruling on Friday that prevents the PDP’s National Executive Committee (NEC) and Board of Trustees (BoT) from suspending Damagum. This order came in response to a lawsuit filed by Senator Umar El-Gash Maina, challenging the party’s intentions to remove him.

Previously, reports indicated that a faction of the PDP’s National Working Committee had suspended Damagum and National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu over accusations of anti-party activities.
