Tinubu Administration Supports Right to Peaceful Protest

Ajuri Ngelale

Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Publicity, has stated unequivocally that no individual within the administration possesses the authority to prevent Nigerians from participating in the planned nationwide #EndBadGovernance protests.

In a recent interview on TVC, Ngelale emphasized that the constitutional right to peaceful protest is firmly protected and cannot be curtailed by any member of the current government. He asserted that the administration is committed to upholding this right and that President Tinubu supports the notion of peaceful protest as an essential element of democracy.

Ngelale stated, “There is no one within our administration who has the authority or influence to deny Nigerians their right to peaceful protest, whether it be in any part of the country or at any time.”

He further highlighted, “Our role in government is not to control or suppress our citizens but to serve them. President Tinubu has consistently affirmed that the right to peaceful protest is a fundamental aspect of democratic governance.”

Ngelale also addressed internal dissent, noting that any disagreement with this position within the government represents a conflict with the president’s stance. “Those who oppose this principle are effectively opposing the Commander-In-Chief, who remains steadfast in defending Nigerians’ rights to peaceful assembly and protest,” he concluded.
