Tinubu Names Taiwo Oyedele Minister of State for Finance
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Taiwo Oyedele as the new Minister of State for Finance, replacing Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite.
The announcement was made by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy. He also revealed that Uzoka-Anite has been reassigned to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning, where she will serve as Minister of State  marking her third ministerial role under the current administration.
According to the statement, President Tinubu has forwarded Oyedele’s nomination to the Senate for confirmation in a letter addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Before his nomination, Oyedele, a native of Ikaram in Akoko, Ondo State, chaired the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, where he led efforts to reform Nigeria’s tax framework.
Oyedele, 50, is an economist, accountant, and public policy specialist. He earned a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy and Finance from Yaba College of Technology and later obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University.
He has also completed executive training programmes at the London School of Economics, Yale University, Gordon Institute of Business Science, and the Harvard Kennedy School.
Oyedele spent over two decades at PwC, where he joined in 2001 and rose to the position of Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader.
In addition to his professional career, he serves as a professor at Babcock University and is a visiting scholar at the Lagos Business School.
