Tinubu: We’re Restoring Trust and Building a New Nigeria

Bola Ahmed Tinubu, FRN President
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to not only enhancing infrastructure but also restoring public trust through inclusive governance and meaningful reforms.
Speaking through Vice President Kashim Shettima at the commissioning of the newly rehabilitated Aguma Palace–Radio Nigeria–New Market Road in Gwagwalada, FCT, the President emphasized that the Renewed Hope Agenda is driving transformation not just in Abuja city centre, but also in underserved communities.
“This is more than just roadwork—it’s a demonstration of our commitment to reconnecting with Nigerians who have long felt ignored. We’re not just fixing roads; we’re rebuilding the confidence people have in government,” the Vice President said.
According to Tinubu, the developments underway in the Federal Capital Territory are tangible results of strategic planning and reform-driven governance. He noted that improved revenue generation in the FCT is being reinvested in critical areas like education, healthcare, and transportation.
“For years, residents on the outskirts of Abuja have watched growth happen from afar. Today marks a new beginning for inclusion and equity,” the President stated. “Every community matters, no matter how remote. This road stands as proof that your voices are being heard and your needs recognized.”
Highlighting the participatory approach of the administration, Tinubu disclosed that the road project was chosen based on local input—an example of democracy in action.
“This isn’t just asphalt. It’s a symbol of dignity for market traders, a path to school for our children, and an opportunity for small businesses to thrive,” he said.
He stressed that the days of neglected communities and unfulfilled promises are over, and that the government is now focused on delivering impact, not rhetoric.
Commending the FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike, Tinubu praised his results-driven leadership. “Wike’s commitment to progress proves that meaningful disruption can lead to real change. This road belongs to the people of Gwagwalada—it’s your victory.”
He added that the administration remains committed to ensuring that development is not reserved for a privileged few but extended to all Nigerians, regardless of location.
In his remarks, Minister Nyesom Wike criticized opposition figures for launching political coalitions barely six months into Tinubu’s presidency. He described their actions as premature and politically motivated, pointing fingers at leaders like Rotimi Amaechi and David Mark, accusing them of being more concerned about power than progress.
“You had your chance—now let’s see your scorecard,” Wike challenged. “You were in office and failed to deliver. Nigerians are not angry; it’s you who are angry because you’ve lost relevance.”
He also criticized former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for his frequent party changes, accusing him of lacking ideological consistency. “In every election cycle, he finds a new party. Now, another coalition? Nigerians deserve better,” Wike stated.
Minister of State for the FCT, Mariya Mahmoud, praised the administration’s commitment to rural infrastructure renewal, calling the newly completed road a symbol of inclusive governance. She expressed gratitude to the President, Vice President, and Senate President for their unwavering support.
Hon. Abdulkadir Zulkiflu, Coordinator of Satellite Town Development, echoed this sentiment, calling the commissioning a milestone in the ongoing effort to upgrade infrastructure in FCT’s satellite communities. He highlighted that the road’s completion marks the end of years of suffering for residents who endured poor access and mobility.
