Tragic Accident Claims Lives of Five Nigerian Air Force Personnel and 14 Others in Plateau State

A devastating auto accident on Tuesday in Hawan Kibo, located in the Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State, resulted in the deaths of five Nigerian Air Force (NAF) personnel among a total of 19 travellers.
According to NAF spokesman Olusola Akinboyewa, the tragedy unfolded on the Jos-Akwanga Express Road when the NAF officers were en route to a sporting event in Abuja. Their vehicle collided with an oncoming truck, prompting the NAF to initiate standard administrative procedures to support the grieving families.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) provided additional details about the incident, revealing that the crash involved an 18-passenger Hiace bus traveling from Yola to Abuja. The bus reportedly crashed into a stationary articulated vehicle, resulting in the deaths of the driver and all 18 passengers.
FRSC spokesperson Peter Longsan noted that excessive speed likely contributed to the fatal impact, leaving no survivors. A manifest retrieved from the bus confirmed that there were 18 passengers on board, along with the driver.
The bodies of the victims have been taken to a local mortuary, and FRSC officials have cleared the wreckage from
the road.
