Two Arrested for Kidnapping and Brutal Murder of Ogun Teenager

The Ogun State Police Command has detained two individuals, Umoru Mohammed and Audu Mohammed, suspected of kidnapping and murdering 15-year-old Muazu Tombata.
According to Police Public Relations Officer Omolola Odutola, Muazu was abducted on September 6 while herding cattle with four other children in Abule Oje, Imala, Abeokuta North Local Government Area. The other children returned home, but Muazu was missing, raising alarm in the community.
The abductors initially demanded a ransom of N500,000 from Muazu’s family. Despite payment, the teenager was not released. A missing person report was filed, prompting a search led by the Divisional Police Officer.
On September 6, the community leader received a call instructing him to go to a riverside in Oje forest. The police, following this lead, discovered Muazu’s body, which had been tied and killed.
Further investigation into the mobile number used for ransom demands led to the identification of the suspects. Umoru Mohammed and Audu Mohammed were arrested on September 7 at Kara Market, Olodo, and have confessed to their involvement. They are now assisting police in identifying other suspects.
The police are committed to tackling kidnapping and bringing those responsible to justice. Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, has assured that efforts will be intensified to combat such crimes.
In a related incident, a suspect named Ganiu Idowu was apprehended following the abduction of two men, Olajesu and Juwon, in Ikutoke village, Ode-Remo. The victims were inspecting farmland when they were kidnapped. Idowu, who had invited them to the site, was arrested as the suspected mastermind behind the kidnapping.
