Udei Community Under Imminent Threat: Armed Group Allegedly Surrounds Udei, Sparking Fear of Imminent Violence
Residents of Udei, located in the Nyiev Council Ward of Guma Local Government Area in Benue State, are raising serious concerns over the presence of suspected armed militias believed to be encamped near their community. Eyewitness reports indicate that these individuals, thought to be Fulani militants, have established positions stretching from Tse-Agbough to Tse-Ukuma, crossing the Kereke River and reaching as far as Tse-Anundu — the site where a local farmer, Mr. Nomsoor Anundu, was reportedly killed just a day ago.
Further accounts reveal that the encampment now extends towards Udaadum Fadama, worryingly close to Sacred Heart Primary School in Udei. The pattern of movement and the scale of the encirclement suggest preparations for a possible coordinated attack. Multiple routes into the town appear to be under surveillance or control by the group, creating widespread anxiety among local residents.
This alarming situation follows a series of violent incidents across Guma LGA, where communities have been repeatedly targeted by armed groups, resulting in numerous casualties and widespread displacement. Locals are now urging the Benue State Government and security agencies to respond swiftly and decisively to avert what they fear could become another devastating assault on their town.
Urgent and strategic security intervention is needed to prevent further bloodshed and protect vulnerable citizens in the region.
