UNESCO and Infinix Equip 10,000 Nigerian Students with AI and Robotics Skills

A group of 30 students from different departments at the University of Ibadan recently completed an impressive 3D AI and Robotics workshop, part of a larger initiative led by UNESCO and Infinix. The goal? To equip 10,000 students across Nigeria with essential AI and robotics skills.
The highlight of the workshop? Twenty participants were selected to receive full training kits, allowing them to become trainers themselves and spread these skills further. This exciting program took place at the Infinix ICT Resource Centre on the university campus, setting the stage for a new wave of tech talent.
Olumide Adeloju, Community Manager at Infinix X Club, shared, “This workshop is part of a ‘train the trainers’ initiative. We’re empowering these 30 students with critical STEM and AI knowledge, enabling them to pass on the skills to others.”
The overarching mission is to leverage AI, machine learning, and robotics to address pressing challenges in Nigeria. With backing from UNESCO, Infinix, and Google, this initiative is set to make a lasting impact on the nation’s technological landscape.
A unique milestone: the University of Ibadan is the first Nigerian university to host this pioneering workshop, following a similar event in Nairobi, Kenya.
Infinix Nigeria’s PR Manager, Oluwayemisi Ode, encouraged the students to make the most of this opportunity, emphasizing the importance of the Infinix ICT Centre and the CogLabs app in advancing their AI-driven learning journey.
