Uzodimma Calls Fuel Subsidy Removal a Blessing for State Governments

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has described the removal of the fuel subsidy as a positive development for state governments, stating that it has led to an increase in funds available for state-level development.
Speaking on Monday during a project inspection to mark the first anniversary of his second term, Uzodimma emphasized that the removal of the subsidy has significantly boosted state revenues, which can now be directed toward improving infrastructure and public services.
He explained, “When we balance the negative impacts of the fuel subsidy removal with the benefits it brings in terms of infrastructure, social welfare, and business facilitation, it becomes clear that it is ultimately a blessing. It’s a genuine advantage for states, as more resources are now available. State governments must now demonstrate to their citizens that they can effectively utilize these additional funds for development, thanks to the subsidy removal by the Federal Government.”
