Ikwerre LGA Chairman, Samuel Nwanosike, Announces Tenure Extension Approved by State Lawmakers

Hon. Dr. Samuel Nwanosike, chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area, has expressed his determination to remain in office beyond June 17, citing an extension granted by state lawmakers under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Martin Amaghule. The extension was necessitated by the state government’s failure to conduct local government elections in Rivers State.

In a two-minute video, Nwanosike stated that he would continue to serve as chairman, as directed by the state lawmakers. He also warned that Ikwerre Local Government Area would stand firm against any attempts to remove him from office.

This statement follows a recent ruling by the Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt, which declared the tenure extensions of the state’s 23 local government chairmen to be null and void.
