Senate President Godswill Akpabio welcomed Afrobeat star Davido, formally known as David Adedeji Adeleke, during a courtesy visit on Monday.
Akpabio expressed his pleasure at hosting Davido, commending the artist for his international achievements that have brought pride to Nigeria. “You have made us very proud within the international community,” Akpabio said to Davido, who was accompanied by his cousins, Hon. Tunji Adeleke and Folasade Adeleke, the daughter of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.
During the visit, Akpabio pledged continued support for the entertainment industry. He also urged Nigerian music artists to uphold high ethical standards and avoid negative peer influences.
“For me and for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government, this is an inclusive administration,” Akpabio stated. “We move as one, across party lines, and work for the interest of Nigeria. Despite your administration being a PDP one, our shared commitment is to the welfare of this country, which has shown you so much love.”
