Why I Stepped Away from Music – Actor Segun Arinze Shares His Story

Segun Arinze
Segun Arinze, a well-known Nollywood actor, recently explained the reasons behind his decision to step away from the music industry.
In a conversation on the ‘Curiosity Made Me Ask’ show hosted by content creator Bae U Barbie, Arinze clarified that his departure from music was not due to failure, but rather a choice to focus more on his acting career.
“I didn’t quit music because I wasn’t successful; I chose to leave it behind to dedicate myself to acting,” he said. “I studied Theatre Arts at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife. After completing my studies, I made the decision to pursue music, and when the time came to concentrate fully on acting, I did just that.”
Arinze hinted at a potential return to the music scene, emphasizing that it would be driven by passion, not financial gain.
“I have two albums, and although I paused my music career, I can always return when the time feels right. The passion is still there, and so is my voice,” he shared. “When I go back to music, it won’t be for commercial reasons. I’ll return because I truly love to sing, not because I’m looking to make money.”
