Why Peter Obi Demands Arrest and Prosecution for Threats Against Igbos

Peter Obi

Peter Obi, former Governor of Anambra State, has called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of individuals behind the recent social media campaign urging Igbos to leave Lagos and other South-West states. Obi condemned the ultimatum, labeling it as deeply disturbing and dangerous.

“Immediate action should be taken to investigate, arrest, and prosecute those responsible for this heinous agenda,” Obi stated, emphasizing that such measures would deter others from engaging in similar activities that threaten national security and unity.

Obi also addressed the alarming genocidal threats against the Igbo tribe on X (formerly Twitter), which called for their relocation. “Such rhetoric is a grave threat to our unity and stands in stark opposition to our Constitution, which guarantees every Nigerian the right to live and work freely anywhere in the country. Authorities must demonstrate leadership by urgently condemning this divisive language,” he asserted.

He urged all Nigerians to stand united against these divisive sentiments and promote unity, tolerance, and understanding. “Our future relies on our ability to live and work together harmoniously,” Obi stated.

Furthermore, Obi called on the government and security agencies to act swiftly to protect the fundamental rights of every Nigerian and ensure that no one lives in fear of discrimination or persecution. “We must not allow our present challenges to create divisions among us,” he concluded.
