48 Years, Suspected Pickpocket Abubakar Reveals How he Disposes People Of Their Money

A 48-year-old man, Abubakar Suleiman from Mararraban-Mubi in the Hong Local Government Area, has confessed to engaging in pickpocketing across various locations in Adamawa State. Suleiman, who was apprehended by the police while allegedly attempting to steal from a fellow passenger on a Keke NAPEP along Bank Road in Jimeta, admitted to his crimes.
Suleiman disclosed that he targeted areas including Uba, Mararraban-Mubi, Michika, and Jimeta. He explained that his method involved making fake phone calls to distract passengers, creating an opportunity to pickpocket them. Known locally as a provision seller, Suleiman claimed to have been involved in pickpocketing for over two years.
The Adamawa State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed Suleiman’s arrest and advised Keke NAPEP passengers to remain vigilant. In Adamawa State, where Keke NAPEP is a popular mode of transport, criminal activities by groups known as Shila Boys, who steal from passengers using tricks or light weapons, are a common issue.
