A 32-year-old man, Etionsa Aiguokun, has been accused of murdering his father, Mr. Aiguokun, and his stepmother, Mrs. Roseline Aiguokun, after a dispute in the Evbomore community in Ovia North-East LGA of Edo State.
Sources indicate that the incident occurred last Wednesday when a disagreement between Etionsa and his father escalated into a physical altercation. During the fight, Etionsa allegedly retrieved a pestle from the kitchen and struck his father on the head. When his stepmother heard the commotion and rushed to the scene, Etionsa allegedly attacked her as well, fatally hitting her on the head with the pestle.
The source revealed that both victims died instantly. The suspect then reportedly dragged their bodies to the back of the house, concealed them beside a soak-away, and covered them with leaves.
When the other children of the deceased returned home and could not find their parents, they began searching for them, with Etionsa participating in the search. Unable to locate their parents, they reported the matter to the Ugbowo Police Division.
During the police investigation, Etionsa allegedly confessed to the murders, leading to the discovery of the bodies at the house.
Chidi Nwabuzor, spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command, confirmed that an investigation is ongoing.
