In Kaduna, the State Police Command successfully apprehended four individuals notorious for their involvement in kidnappings across the northwest region. Among the items recovered were an AK-47 rifle, a locally made pistol, and three cartridges.
According to a statement from ASP Munsir Hassan, the command’s spokesperson, the arrests occurred on May 29, 2024, following a tip-off from a vigilant citizen. A collaborative effort between officers from the Saminaka Division and the Hunters Group in Lere local government area led to the capture of three suspects linked to kidnapping and cattle rustling activities.
The suspects, identified as Isah Baffa Rabo (30), Ja’afaru Sale (30), and Umar Musa (24), all from Lere LGA, were implicated in multiple kidnapping incidents in Zango Kataf and Kachia LGAs. During interrogation, they confessed to their involvement in a kidnapping syndicate operating in Lere LGA and admitted to stealing two cattle, which they sold to Idris Abubakar, a 47-year-old from Dokan Lere, who was also detained.
The operation resulted in the seizure of a locally made single-barrel gun, a cutlass, and three mobile phones. The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further probing.
In a related development, the Command, acting on reliable intelligence about bandit activities, swiftly responded under the leadership of the Tudun Wada Zaria Division’s divisional police officer (DPO). This led to the arrest of a 70-year-old suspect named Hussaini from Tudunjukun in Zaria at around 2:50 AM. During this operation, authorities recovered an AK-47 rifle, a locally made pistol, and three cartridges. Hussaini is currently cooperating with the investigation to identify and apprehend his accomplices and will face charges once the inquiry is concluded.
