Aregbesola No Longer a Member of APC, Says Party
The political turmoil within the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has escalated with the suspension of former governor Rauf Aregbesola.
The state APC declared that the former Minister of Interior is now a “distraction” and no longer part of the party. Over the weekend, Aregbesola launched the Omoluabi Progressives group and initiated its membership registration in his ward.
In a communique issued after a stakeholders’ meeting at the party’s secretariat in Osogbo, state chairman Tajudeen Lawal officially informed the party leadership about the upcoming electronic membership registration as directed by the national secretariat. He also warned members against registering with Aregbesola’s group.
Party secretary Kamoru Alao announced that the official registration would begin the following day, following the inauguration of the training committee by the national chairman. He emphasized that loyal APC members should avoid registering with Aregbesola’s group, as Omoluabi Progressives is not recognized as part of the APC in Osun State.
