Invasion of Privacy: Gani Adams Demands Apology from Sunday Igboho

Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, has called on Yoruba nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, known as Igboho, to apologize or face legal action for allegedly invading his privacy.

Adams issued this demand through a pre-litigation letter written by his counsel, Adesina Ogunlana. The letter, dated June 4, 2024, addresses how Igboho allegedly violated Adams’ fundamental human rights.

The letter claims that Igboho intruded on Adams’ privacy by publicly sharing a private conversation from 2021. Adams argues that this act was a deliberate, reckless, and malicious breach of his constitutionally guaranteed right to privacy under Section 37 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).

Adams asserts that Igboho’s actions have unjustly tarnished his reputation. He demands an unqualified apology for the unlawful invasion of his privacy and the mass publication of his private conversation with Mr. Nurudeen Banjo, which has damaged his esteemed status.

Despite this affront, Adams is willing to seek an amicable resolution. He has given Igboho a month from receipt of the letter to respond. If Igboho ignores the letter or treats it with disdain, Adams will pursue legal action.

The letter concludes with an invitation for Igboho to settle the matter amicably, emphasizing the traditional respect and reconciliation valued by Adams’ title and office.
