Nine Months After Mohbad’s Death, See What Family Face
The turmoil within the family of Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, shows no sign of abating, even nine months after his death.
Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, was interrogated on Monday by the Force Criminal Investigation Department in Alagbon, Ikoyi, Lagos State, following a complaint by Oba Saheed Elegushi. A new petition accusing Mr. Aloba of cyberbullying, cyberstalking, and criminal defamation, related to a recent interview, led to his arrest on Tuesday.
Monisola Odumosu, head of the Aloba legal team, stated that Mr. Aloba was accompanied to the police station by legal representatives, Teri Wellington and herself. The petition by Oba Saheed Elegushi claimed Mr. Aloba made defamatory comments in an interview with a London-based blogger.
Family Disputes
Following Mohbad’s death, the family has been plagued by disputes, including the paternity of Mohbad’s son, Liam. Mr. Aloba demanded a DNA test to confirm Liam’s paternity, insisting Mohbad was not his biological father. Mohbad’s partner, Wunmi, strongly refutes this claim.
Additionally, the family is divided over the late singer’s estate. Mohbad died under mysterious circumstances, prompting police investigations into his death.
New Development in Cause of Death
In a recent development, an autopsy report indicated that a drug reaction might have caused Mohbad’s death. Conducted at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), the autopsy involved extensive analysis of his remains, including tests on samples of gastric content, blood, bone marrow, liver, kidney, and lungs.
Results from these tests, released on Friday, pointed to a toxic reaction to a substance as the potential cause of death. The specific substance responsible is still being investigated by forensic experts.
Mohbad’s sudden demise has sparked widespread concern and speculation, leading to demands for a thorough investigation. He passed away on September 12, 2023, after leaving Marlian Music, owned by Naira Marley, in February 2022.
In response to his death, the Lagos State Police Command established a 13-member special investigation team on September 18, 2023. This investigation has led to the arrests of Naira Marley and controversial socialite Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry, among others. Mohbad’s body was exhumed for an autopsy on September 21, 2023.
