The naira experienced further depreciation against the dollar in both the official and parallel foreign exchange markets. According to FMDQ data, the naira slightly declined to N1,485.36 per dollar on Thursday, down from N1,483.02 on Wednesday.
This indicates a N2.34 loss compared to the previous day’s exchange rate of N1,483.02 per dollar.
Similarly, in the parallel market, the naira fell to N1,490 per dollar on Thursday, compared to N1,470 on Wednesday.
This depreciation occurred despite an increase in FX transaction turnover at the FMDQ market, which rose to $176.20 million on Thursday from $150.73 million on the previous day.
