Delta State Government Warns Public Against Scammers Impersonating SSG
The Office of the Secretary to the Delta State Government has issued a warning regarding fraudulent activities involving individuals impersonating the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and scamming people out of money by promising fake political appointments and contracts.
In an official statement released on Thursday, Dr. Kingsley Emu, the SSG, revealed that a group of criminals is using phone number 08085129491 to send scam messages to unsuspecting victims. These messages urge recipients to deposit money into Zenith Bank Account Number: 4235384296, under the name Jonah Kumor, in exchange for supposed political appointments and lucrative contracts with the state government.
Dr. Emu emphasized that the public should ignore any such messages, whether received via WhatsApp or SMS. He noted that the scammers are using his picture on WhatsApp to deceive individuals seeking political appointments and contracts.
The statement clarified that all political appointments in Delta State are made by the Executive Governor and are free of charge, while contracts are awarded through established procedures and competitive bidding, not via unsolicited messages.
“The attention of the Secretary to Delta State Government (SSG) has been drawn to the activities of some impostors using the office’s name to scam the public through phone number 08085129491 (account details: Jonah Kumor, 4235384296, Zenith Bank). These fraudsters also use a fake WhatsApp account with the SSG’s picture to mislead people,” the statement read.
The office reiterated that neither the SSG nor his office solicits funds or engages in these fraudulent practices. The public is urged to disregard any such communications.
Security agencies have been alerted to these fraudulent activities, and investigations are underway to identify and apprehend those involved. The statement concluded with a stern warning to the scammers to cease their activities or face legal consequences.
