Sultan of Sokoto Threats: See what Sokoto Government tells Vice President Shettima about Facts

The state government responded to Shettima’s remarks regarding the alleged plan to depose Sultan Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar. The government emphasized that the Vice President should have contacted Governor Ahmed Aliyu to verify the information before making public statements.

Governor Aliyu’s spokesman, Abubakar Bawa, issued a statement highlighting the importance of the Vice President having accurate and comprehensive knowledge of national issues before commenting. The statement read, “We expected the Vice President to consult the Governor before going public.”

The statement continued, “As an elder statesman and a father to all, the Vice President should base his judgments on facts and figures rather than the claims of mischief-makers and unreliable social media sources. There was never any attempt to remove the Sultan, nor have we issued any threats against him.”

It further assured that the Sultan retains all his powers and freedoms, emphasizing that protecting and promoting the Sultan is the state government’s responsibility. “We do not need to be reminded to guard and uphold the Sultan’s rights and privileges. It is our sole responsibility,” the statement concluded.
