LP Crisis: Peter Obi Names Three People To Decide Abure’s Fate; Give Reasons

Peter Obi
Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate for the Labour Party (LP), has outlined a strategy involving himself, Governor Alex Otti of Abia State, and other key stakeholders to address the ongoing leadership crisis within the party.

Obi emphasized that according to the LP’s constitution, the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) will convene with himself and Governor Otti to deliberate on the matter of the party’s leadership crisis, including the tenure of National Chairman Julius Abure.
Speaking to reporters following a meeting with the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) Transition Committee led by Abdulwaheed Omar, Obi highlighted the importance of stakeholders coming together to resolve internal challenges within the party.
He stated, “The resolution of the leadership challenges in the Labour Party will be a collective decision of all stakeholders. When we gather as a family, decisions will be made collectively in accordance with the party’s constitution and the guidance of the National Executive Council.”
Regarding the attempted takeover of the party secretariat by the NLC Transition Committee, Obi acknowledged the protest as a sign of stakeholders’ desire for better organization within the party. He emphasized the need for unity and understanding among party members, likening the process to managing family dynamics where disagreements are natural but can be resolved through dialogue and collective decision-making.
