Reasons Gombe Governor Suspends Village Head and Councillor Over Alleged Transformer Theft

Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya has suspended Mohammed Majidadi, the village head of Garin Majidadi, and Abdullahi Panda, a councillor representing Kumo East Ward in Akko Local Government Area, following allegations of their involvement in the theft of an electricity transformer.

The Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, announced the suspension, citing the Gombe State Local Government (Amendment) Law, 2013 as the basis for this action.

Both officials were paraded by the police and are currently on trial for conspiracy in connection with the transformer theft in Garin Majidadi. The suspension aims to prevent any potential interference with the legal proceedings.

In a statement, Professor Njodi conveyed Governor Yahaya’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and his confidence that justice will be served.
