The seized substances include Cannabis sativa (Indian hemp), cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine (known locally as mkpurummiri), tramadol, and rephynol, among others.

During a press briefing in Owerri on Friday, the Imo State NDLEA Narcotics Commander, Alhaji Saeed Abdullahi, reported the arrest of 192 suspects, comprising 171 males and 21 females. He noted that the majority of the confiscated drugs were Indian hemp. Additionally, 40 drug users underwent rehabilitation, and 30 were subsequently convicted.

Abdullahi praised the stakeholders for their support, acknowledging that the state command’s achievements would not have been possible without their cooperation. He also expressed gratitude for the backing from the agency’s national headquarters in Abuja, the Imo State Government, and the media. He assured that the command remains committed to reducing drug abuse and illicit trafficking in the state.
