Pastor Olanrewaju Agboola of the Redeemed Christian Church of God is reeling from a significant loss after armed robbers broke into his residence in the Aseese community, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area, Ogun State. The thieves made off with his car and other valuables amounting to N10 million.
According to sources, this is not the first robbery incident in the area.
In an interview on Saturday, Agboola recounted the event, stating that the robbery occurred early Tuesday morning. Among the stolen items were a Toyota Highlander valued at N8 million, five computer systems each worth N300,000, and his wife’s phone valued at N200,000.
“It happened very early on Tuesday, June 25th. I usually wake up at 4:30 in the morning, but that day, I woke up around 4:35 am. When I went to the sitting room, I noticed the television was missing. Although the door was locked, I realized they had entered through the window by tampering with the steel bars. Besides the car, they also took five computers and phones,” Agboola explained.
A local resident, who chose to remain anonymous, mentioned that this was not an isolated incident and that another pastor had also been targeted in a similar manner.
The Divisional Police Officer of the Ibafo police station, Solotan Owolabi, confirmed the robbery and stated that investigations are underway to find the perpetrators. He also advised car owners to install trackers in their vehicles for added security.
