See Reasons Balami Dump Peter Obi, LP, Returns To APC
Comrade Isaac Balami, an aviation expert and youth activist, has left the Labour Party (LP) to rejoin his former party, the All Progressives Congress (APC). Balami, who served as the National Deputy Campaign Manager for Obi/Datti during the 2023 presidential election, made this announcement during a media briefing in Abuja on Wednesday.
Explaining his decision, Balami reflected on his previous departure from the APC before the last presidential elections, noting that his experiences with the LP prompted him to reconsider. He highlighted the positive impact of President Tinubu’s administration over the past year, particularly regarding the controversial Muslim-Muslim ticket, which had initially driven him to the LP.
Balami admitted that his concerns about the Muslim-Muslim ticket were unfounded, as Tinubu has made significant strides in empowering both Christian northerners and Muslim ethnic minorities, emphasizing equity and fairness.
“No president has ever worked with the middle belt like President Bola Tinubu,” Balami stated, commending Tinubu for appointing credible Nigerians and promoting equity. He acknowledged that his perspective had changed, now seeing the APC as a better party and government capable of transforming Nigeria.
After extensive consultations with leaders across Nigeria, the middle-belt caucus, his parents, and family, Balami decided to resign from the LP and return to the APC. He expressed satisfaction with the current administration’s inclusiveness and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the APC in its efforts to rescue the country.
Reflecting on his initial move to the LP, Balami mentioned that he had sacrificed his investments and career to join the Obidient movement, driven by a desire for good governance. However, he expressed disappointment in the LP’s leadership crisis and incompetence, which, in his view, undermined the party’s potential to transform Nigeria.
“There is every indication that Nigeria cannot be redeemed through the Labour Party. As I move with my entire structure back to my former party, I urge them to join me in working with the APC to redeem our dear country,” Balami declared.
He also expressed hope that Tinubu would address the country’s food and energy crises and urged the president to reach a reasonable agreement with organized labor to alleviate inherited hardships. Balami thanked Obi and Sen. Datti for the opportunity to serve in their campaign team and wished them well in their future endeavors.
