Gunmen Kill Two, Kidnap Five Travellers in Ondo

Armed men, suspected to be kidnappers, ambushed commuters on the Ifon-Owo Highway in Ondo State, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and the abduction of five others.
According to Channels Television, the incident occurred on Friday evening when the assailants targeted a commercial vehicle. The driver and a female passenger were fatally shot at the scene.
Five passengers, including a Corps member, were abducted by the gunmen. However, two of the victims managed to escape with varying degrees of injuries.
A local source disclosed that the commercial vehicle was traveling from Anambra State to Owo and Akure in Ondo State when the gunmen struck.
Ondo State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Fumilayo Odunlami-Omisanyan, confirmed the incident in a telephone interview. She stated that a police team had been dispatched to the area and was currently searching the nearby forest to apprehend the kidnappers and rescue the abducted individuals.
