Reno Omokri Advocates for Solidarity March in Lagos for Appreciation Not Protest; Give 14 Reasons

Reno Omokri

In a recent post on his X (formerly Twitter) page, Reno Omokri expressed his belief that Lagos deserves a solidarity march in recognition of its exemplary governance, rather than a protest.

Omokri outlined several achievements that he believes set Lagos apart:

1. Competitive Wages: Lagos pays above the minimum wage, with salaries set at ₦70,000.

2. Timely Payments: The state does not owe salaries to workers or pensions to retirees.

3. Inclusivity: Lagos does not discriminate between indigenes and non-indigenes.

4. Healthcare: Free healthcare services are provided to pregnant women.

5. Education: Subsidized education is available to all residents, irrespective of ethnicity.

6. Infrastructure: The state has built the Red and Blue Line metro systems and developed independent power projects.

7. Economic Development: Lagos has established its own port and the Lekki Free Trade Zone.

8. Security: The city is secure enough that Mark Zuckerberg jogged there without security.

9. Transportation: The state has constructed roads, bridges, flyovers, and a dedicated BRT bus lane with sufficient buses for municipal transportation.

10. Support for Students: Students in tertiary institutions receive bursaries.

11. Social Welfare: The state provides palliatives and has opened food kitchens for those experiencing poverty.

12. Entrepreneurship: Grants have been given to 20,000 residents to start businesses.

13. Urban Development: Lagos has reclaimed land from the Atlantic Ocean.

14. Cleanliness: Sweepers clean the roads every morning.

Omokri concluded his post by stating that unless other states have accomplished more than these feats, those wishing to protest against bad governance should consider returning to their states of origin.
