Ex-Delta Commissioner Joan Onyemachi Mrapkpor Kidnapped in Asaba Church Attack

Joan Onyemachi Mrapkpor, former Commissioner for Higher Education in Delta State and widely known as “Ada Anioma,” was abducted on Tuesday.
Mrapkpor, who had recently resigned from her position to support her younger brother’s bid for a local government council chairmanship, was seized during a church service at her church near Delta Broadcasting Service Street in Asaba.
An eyewitness reported, “There was chaos in the church close to the police headquarters on DBS Road. We fled due to the gunfire. The incident occurred just minutes ago. One aide was killed, and a security officer is currently unconscious.”
SP Bright Edafe, Public Relations Officer for the Delta State Police Command, confirmed the kidnapping and noted that one of their officers was killed by the assailants. Edafe stated that investigations are ongoing, and further details will be provided as they become available.
