VP Shettima Calls for Support to Realize Tinubu’s Policies
Vice-President Kashim Shettima has urged Nigerians to support the implementation of President Bola Tinubu’s policies, emphasizing that the President is committed to the country’s welfare. Shettima reassured that contrary to some claims, President Tinubu is neither anti-northern nor anti-Islam, as demonstrated by his inclusive appointments to key federal positions.
Shettima made these remarks during a meeting with northern media representatives at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. He acknowledged the right of citizens to protest but cautioned that such actions could lead to significant losses and are often exploited by certain individuals.
The Vice-President highlighted that current federal appointments reflect a fair representation of northerners in crucial areas such as agriculture, security, communications technology, and health. He emphasized that President Tinubu’s administration is genuinely dedicated to addressing northern concerns through initiatives like the Resettlement Scheme for Persons Impacted by Conflict (RSPIC) and the Ministry of Livestock Development.
Shettima cited President Tinubu’s efforts in establishing the Northwest Development Commission and approving the RSPIC Initiative, which aims to aid victims of regional conflicts. He stressed that these measures will positively impact the northern population.
He urged the media to support the administration’s efforts instead of resorting to protests, which he believes will not advance regional development. Shettima called on media practitioners to mobilize the northern public to utilize government opportunities for improving lives and advancing the region’s development.
