Kidnapped EKSU Professor Found Dead, Revealed by DSS

The Ekiti State Command of the Department of State Services (DSS) has disclosed that the abduction of Professor Olorunfemi Olaofe, former Deputy Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University (EKSU), was orchestrated by his own domestic staff.

In a statement issued to journalists on Wednesday in Ado-Ekiti, the DSS revealed that Olaofe was kidnapped from his residence in Ado-Ekiti on July 9. The investigation led to the discovery of his body buried in a shallow grave at a farm settlement on Airport Road, Ijan-Ekiti.

The DSS statement outlined, “The Ekiti State Command of the DSS, in coordination with other state security agencies, has uncovered the brutal murder of Professor Olorunfemi Olaofe. The kidnapping, which occurred at his residence on July 9, 2024, was executed by a group of about seven suspects, including domestic staff who were involved in planning the crime.”

The statement further noted, “The ongoing investigation revealed that the domestic staff played a central role in the kidnapping, inviting additional accomplices. The discovery of Olaofe’s body in a shallow grave confirms the tragic outcome of this crime.”

The DSS expressed gratitude to the state government for its support during the investigation and announced that the case will soon be handed over to the State Police Command for prosecution, following the establishment of homicide charges.
