See Reasons Angry Youths Destroy Bauchi Palace
In Bauchi State, youths have set ablaze the palace of the District Head of Lere town in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area. The attack occurred after a confrontation between the military and supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Lere.
The clash resulted in one fatality and six injuries. Zaharedden Mohammed, a Lere resident who was injured in the eye during the military operation, claimed that the attack on the palace stemmed from suspicions that the District Head had supported the military’s decision to enforce a curfew in the area.
Mohammed explained, “Some youths from the campaign team had a dispute with the military, which then used the curfew as a cover to target specific individuals. The military launched their assault before the curfew officially began.”
Alhaji Sule Abdullahi, another Lere resident, added that the youths, expressing their frustration, stormed the palace and set it on fire on Wednesday.
Attempts to reach the District Head for comment were unsuccessful at the time of this report.
