Tyla Criticizes Bullying of Nigerian, Miss South Africa Finalist Chidimma Adetshina

Grammy-winning South African artist Tyla has publicly denounced the bullying faced by Chidimma Vanessa Onwe Adetshina, a former finalist in the Miss South Africa pageant.

Adetshina encountered significant scrutiny regarding her eligibility for the competition due to her Nigerian and Mozambican heritage. The situation intensified when allegations emerged from the South African Department of Home Affairs, suggesting that her mother might have been involved in fraud and identity theft.

As a result, Adetshina withdrew from the competition. Tyla expressed her disappointment on X.com, criticizing the harsh treatment Adetshina endured and stating that she was driven out by bullying. Tyla commented, “I will always support South Africa, but I cannot condone the bullying she experienced.”

Meanwhile, Miss Universe Nigeria has extended an invitation to Adetshina to participate in their contest, though she has not yet responded to th

e offer.
