See The Numbers Killed and Missing After Community Clash in Enugu

There is growing unrest in the Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State following the reported killing of four youths from Aku by individuals from the neighboring Ikolo community.Â
The victims were part of a search team looking for three missing youths, who were feared to have been abducted by Ikolo residents. According to local sources, the situation began on August 1, 2024, when Frank Didigwu, Chibuike Nnadi, and Obiora Dugwu from Aku traveled to Ikolo to seek traditional medicine for the seriously ill mother of one of them.
A source indicated that one of the victims made a phone call to his sister upon arrival at the herbalist’s home, confirming their presence and that they were waiting for their turn. Since that call, there has been no communication from them, and their phones have been off. On August 8, a search party sent to find the missing men was allegedly ambushed by armed Ikolo residents, resulting in the deaths of four members and injuries to others.
In response to the violence, the Aku General Assembly (AGA) held an emergency press conference condemning the acts as severe crimes. The AGA’s secretary, James Ezike, delivered a statement decrying the attacks as unwarranted acts of criminality, terrorism, and murder inflicted upon the Aku community by Ikolo residents.
