UK vs Nigeria: Why I Will Not Attend a Nigerian Church Again

A Nigerian man residing in the UK has shared how his experience with a church in England reshaped his views on church practices.

Femi Adepoju, the man in question, expressed that his recent experience in a UK church has made him reconsider attending any African church in the future.
He shared on Facebook: “I contributed to a cause at our Nottingham church, and within a week, the pastor took the time to write to me, detailing the total amount received and how it was spent.
I began making monthly contributions via direct debit, and the church finance team sent me a thank-you note, informing me that my donations could even lower my tax liability.
I also joined the Food Bank group that helps and feeds the homeless every Wednesday. When I inquired about how they procure the food, the assistant pastor provided a detailed response along with a note of appreciation.
There was no condescension, no dismissive remarks, and no nonsense.
Nigerian churches could greatly benefit from adopting such accountability and efficiency. Given this experience, I doubt I’ll attend an African church, even in Nigeria, in the future.”
