In a recent attack, four soldiers were killed when troops from Operation Hadarin Daji were ambushed by terrorists in the Bachaka Kurya Forest, located in the Gudu Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, confirmed the tragic event in a statement issued from Abuja on Monday.

The ambush occurred close to the Nigeria-Niger border. During the confrontation, several terrorists were neutralized, and the military recovered weapons and ammunition from the scene.

The statement also noted, “The deceased terrorists’ bodies indicate that the attack was carried out by a terrorist group from Niger Republic known as Lakurawa. Regrettably, four of our soldiers lost their lives in this encounter.

“The surviving members of the terrorist group have fled back into Niger Republic. Our troops are actively pursuing them with the goal of locating and eliminating the threat.”
