Omokri Questions Obi’s Silence on IPOB’s 30-Day Lockdown
Reno Omokri has expressed concern over Peter Obi’s lack of response to the 30-day lockdown imposed by IPOB across five Southeast states. Despite Obi’s recent vocal criticism of insecurity in Benue and his condemnation of Lagos State’s demolition of part of Landmark Beach Resort, he has not addressed the lockdown, which is in stark contrast to his previous stances.
Omokri points out that while Obi condemned the demolition in Lagos and criticized the false reports of deportation from Lagos to Osun, he remains silent on the lockdown in the Southeast. This silence follows Obi’s call for Nnamdi Kanu’s release on June 30, 2024.
Omokri echoes Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala’s view that insecurity is being weaponized in Nigeria, suggesting that Obi is a key figure in this issue, accusing him of tribalizing and trivializing security concerns based on regional biases.
Omokri challenges Nigerians to reflect on whether Obi’s selective responses are consistent with his stated po
sitions.
