FUNAAB Student Allegedly Murdered by Kidnapper

Adeleye Ayomide, a student of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), has been accused of kidnapping and murdering Christiana Idowu, a 300-level student at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB).

Idowu, who went missing last week, was reportedly abducted by Ayomide, who demanded a ransom of N3 million for her release. Ayomide is said to be studying Philosophy at OOU.

The news of Idowu’s death has sparked outrage across Nigeria, with the hashtag #JusticeForChristiana trending on social media. Allegations have surfaced suggesting that Ayomide may have been involved in previous violent incidents, including the deaths of his ex-girlfriend in 2018 and his sister in 2020.

Reports indicate that Idowu was kidnapped on Ikorodu-Yaba Road while traveling from her home in Itaoluwo, Ikorodu, to the University of Lagos for her industrial training. The abductors initially demanded N3 million but later reduced the ransom amount through negotiations with Idowu’s family. Despite the family paying N350,000, the kidnappers refused to release her and continued to make additional demands.

A source close to the family revealed, “The abductors were in contact via WhatsApp and initially demanded N3 million. After several appeals, the amount was reduced to N1 million, then N500,000, and finally N350,000, which was paid. However, they still refused to release her and asked for the bank statement from the transfer.”

The family has reported the case to the police and is now seeking assistance from the government and the public to aid in the investigation and secure justice for Idowu.
